About / Resume
Design, development, data, and multimedia from the ground up.

My name is Erik Summers, founder of LiquidGooey Graphic. I’ve been developing web content for decades, and I’m driven by work that not only meets a client’s needs, but exceeds expectations.
I hand code and work across PHP/MySQL, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, multimedia delivery, database schemas, interface layouts, and LAMP-server environments. I understand the different constraints of web versus print, and I enjoy turning complex information into usable systems.
History
I started from the ground up in 1998 with Windows Notepad and a copy of HTML in 24 hours. What began as a hobby quickly became a digital addiction. Static websites were fine for the late 1990s, but extracting and using data brought sites to life. That led from CGI and flat-file databases into PHP, MySQL, Flash, Photoshop, and full web applications.
Award #1
While working in tech support at Quest Diagnostics, I served as the primary web designer on the Quest On Demand doctor/patient platform. In 2002, that application won 1st place in an International Innovation Competition from IDC against nine countries.
Award #2
Facefinder.com, a job portal for actors, models, and production staff, won a W3 award in 2006. It is also where FastCast and SmartCast were developed as part of a data-driven casting system.
Always innovating
In 2004, I discovered streaming video, both live and compiled. Within weeks, I developed BSpot.tv, a live streaming system that helped a non-profit organization stream from the plains of North Dakota to congressional offices in Washington, DC.
Over the years, the theme has stayed consistent: simplify the experience, use technology intelligently, and create systems that people can actually use.
